I’ve got a confession to make…
I’ve always wanted to save the world.
Ever since I was a young duck, I wanted to be like the heroes I saw on TV.
I can still vividly remember sitting on my mom’s couch in 2008 watching CNN HEROES.
One guy nominated fitted prosthetic limbs to patients who wouldn’t normally be able to afford them. Another built schools and orphanages. One lady delivered food to those in need. Another woman started a project in St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina without knowing a thing about construction.
What these people and people like them do everyday is truly amazing. But it’s taken me years (and I’m still learning more) to realize that it’s not just what you DO that makes a difference…it’s WHO YOU ARE.
The reason I believe so strongly in individuals and organizations doing work for social and environmental good is because I believe in the good of humanity. I believe that we humans mean well, care deeply, and can make a significant impact in our world. I believe in human ingenuity and creativity and I believe we can work together collaboratively - both within ourselves and with each other - to solve the world’s most complex challenges and shift subpar status quo systems for the better.
My calling is to train, support, and bring pioneering leaders together in this process of saving the world.
But not because the world needs to be fixed…it’s because I want to live in the kind of world where we work together like a family and each recognize our ability to be a hero through who we choose to be.
I’m still a work in progress, but my work here challenges me to choose to be the real me everyday.
Give the world the real you. Let’s make a good ol’ dent in the Universe.
