Your Hero’s Journey: Supernatural Aide
“When you keep asking the Universe for what you want, and it keeps giving you chance after chance to take it, but you keep refusing… in some way you are telling the Universe to f*ck off.”
I was at the edge of my seat at a personal growth seminar. The lead trainer had me captivated. He was talking about creating what we really want in life, about seeing the signs. This was the last of three progressively pointed statements saying just that: When we ask for help/guidance/a desire to be fulfilled… and we continuously deny the gift when it comes to us, we are disregarding the assistance of the Universe.
Now I believe in a benevolent Universe. I believe there is something bigger out there that loves us unconditionally, no matter how much we bumble down the path.
This is more for our own realization – that if we keep shutting the Universe out, it cannot help us.
So at the next break, I practically LEPT out of my chair. I was not thinking whatsoever. All I know is I had a fire under my ass.
I walked up to the trainer, and hastedly blurted out, “I don’t really know what I’m doing but that really spoke to me. And I would love to work with you someday.”
Three days later, I had a job with the company.
In this case, my supernatural aide came in the form of a teacher, a person. For many though, supernatural aide can come in many forms. One colleague of mine found hers in a horse. Another on the television telling her to move to North Carolina. One client of mine even found supernatural aide on a road sign.
They say that when the student is ready, the teacher appears.
This couldn’t be more true.
In the Hero’s Journey, once the hero has committed to her quest, whether it be consciously or unconsciously, her guide or magical helper appears.
Think Yoda in Star Wars. Or Haggrid in Harry Potter.
Now think back on your life… where has mystical aide stepped in for you? How did you know this was your guide?
Here are my tips for knowing your guide when you meet them:
1. You feel completely understood.
Being the presence of this guide helps you feel seen and heard. Not only do you feel understood by this other being or entity, you also feel like you understand yourself more too.
2. You see qualities in them that you would like to embody in yourself.
There is something in this other entity that reminds you of who you want to be. The reason this is so is because they are merely reflecting back to you who you already are. They are there to help you move into the person you are called to be.
3. There is a deep feeling of trust.
You feel that you could trust this person with your life. You may not have any logical reason for it, but you sense this person has high integrity, is honest, and will hold your trust in confidence.
4. The person is clear and open.
The mystical helper is one who is clear and open. They are direct and up front, while also listening to your needs. You know where you stand with this person. What you see is what you get.
5. What the guide says and lives resonated with you.
You feel and witness how this teacher walks the talk. You find yourself captivated by their message and the way they deliver it.
Supernatural aide comes in many ways. We all needs different support throughout our lives. To say that each person’s guide looks the same is foolish.
Ultimately, this helper is one who simply remind us of who the real teacher really is.
